Bubbles, Ashington

Last night we played a place I haven't played in about 10 years, Bubbles in Ashington. I have to say I wasn't expecting too much because a) I couldn't remember what it was like 10 years ago and b) you don't really hear much about it these days. Well, I was blown away with the place. What an excellent venue. It's small, with a fairly cramped stage but the atmosphere was electric. The crowd were there from the get go. Even though we had technical issues in the first song, it didn't dampen anyone's spirits. Every song was very warmly received.

Talking to a couple of the punters, they were saying what a refreshing change it was for a good rock band to play there rather than the "slit your wrists blues bands" that often grace the stage. Well, it was also a refreshing change to play a venue as warm and inviting as this, there are too few.

Thankyou Ashington and Bubbles for a great night, we'll be back!

NIKHS in Blyth.

OK. We played Nikhs last night, and I can honestly say it's one of the best venues around. When we arrived the bar owner Nicky and husband Bobbie were there to greet and provide the band with a free drink (that's each not just one between all). The staff help carry the gear in, up the steps at the back. Rob, who books the bands, helped out and made sure we had anything and everything we needed.

The venue itself is great. OK it is on the first floor, but it's not much of a hump up - especially with plenty of helping hands. The playing area is a good size, carpeted and with plenty of room for swinging your pants. The acoustics of the place are great. There are house lights and smoke machine for the bands to use too.

There was a good turn out as well. Attendance had to be around the 70 - 80 mark at least. The crowd made plenty noise and stayed (which is the main thing) til the end. At the end of the night Scott was spinning the decks on the rock disco with some quality tracks.

Again when stripping down the gear and taking it back down to the van there was plenty of help if needed.

When you consider that we were, I think, the third band to appear there since them taking the plunge into the live music scene, which as we all know is well established in Blyth, I am very happy to see people supporting it. Without our support these venues can't succeed. I will be keeping in touch with Rob to find out how everything's panning out, but as long as people continue to support it this venue is on the road to very good times. The enthusiasm of all involved is more than apparent, it's bursting out of everyone - especially Rob. This man lives and breathes live music. He has played in bands in the past so knows the score from our point of view. He also knows exactly what the punters want. And the enthusiasm he has for this venture to take off, well it's contagious. Please all, punters and bands alike, put your hearts into supporting Nikhs. It's a great place, with the most welcoming of atmospheres and not a charva in site! (And £2 a pint on band nights ain't bad).

To sum up - great venue, great staff, great punters. We're booked back in Feb - can't wait.

Wardley Legion Rock Night

Last night saw us play the regular Friday rock night at Wardley Legion. This is a relatively new event (about 8 weeks old) and seems to be gathering support. The man in charge of bands is Maddog Mick - nice bloke. Click here for the site.

New Gig - New Venue

We have just confirmed a booking on 22nd Sept at a new venue in Blyth - Nikhs. This used to be a night club, but not now. Currently finishing off a refurb, this establishment is going to be a live music venue. Come along and show your support.

Young Gunz songs uploaded

Check out the iPod style player on the right and find the six original songs that we recorded in a previous incarnation of the band in the mid 90's. We released these on a tape called "Hear At Last" which we sold at the gigs for a fiver I think.

What a belter

Fri 27th July saw us play at the Washington Football Club again. This was the first gig for our new frontman Sav. What a belter of a night. Excellent crowd again, and Sav played a blinder. Good job all round. Looking forward to coming back.
